Our Mission
The mission of AHEC is to improve access to quality healthcare, especially primary and preventive care, by enhancing the supply and distribution of healthcare professionals. We achieve this through strategic partnerships with academic programs, communities, and professional organizations.
AHEC Core
CHW Certification
Community Health Worker (CHW) certification training equips individuals to support their communities in health education, care coordination, and advocacy.
AHEC Scholars Program
The Texas AHEC East (TAE) AHEC Scholars Program recruits and trains diverse health professions students, forming an interprofessional team dedicated to serving rural and underserved communities.
Community Health Worker Continuing Education
Training programs for CHWs and CHWIs, and these programs provide essential skills and knowledge to enhance community health, with CEUs awarded upon completion to support certification and professional development.
